Hi, I'm John Skanes.

My name is John Skanes, and I am happy to be representing you as your insurance agent making sure your insurance needs are taken care from obtaining the correct insurance product, to identifying risks that may cause a loss and to making sure you are put back into the same financial positions you were in if you do suffer a loss.

My career in the insurance industry started over 25 years ago working as a claims adjuster for a farm mutual insurer handling various claims related to automobile, property, commercial and farm losses.

​

I then moved into the Special Investigations Unit that investigated insurance fraud, arson fires, auto theft and organized crime groups targeting insurance companies.  The Special Investigation Unit worked to prevent fraudulent claims from being paid to help keep the mutual policyholder’s premiums from going up unnecessarily.

I am also a Certified Fire Explosion Investigator investigating the cause of the fire to determine who or what is responsible for starting the fire.

​

Additionally, I have obtained my Canadian Risk Management designation which has given me the skills to identify risks, to monitor the risk and limit the risk.

I worked at North Blenheim Mutual Insurance in the claims department before moving into the Agents role. With my experience I am looking forward to assisting you with all your insurance needs.
